The Public Knowledge Project released Open Journal Systems 3.5 with significant improvements to the reader experience, editorial workflow, and developer APIs.

Key highlights in OJS 3.5:

  • Improved usage statistics — COUNTER 5 compliant, with institution-level download tracking
  • Enhanced REST API — expanded endpoints for submissions, publications, and issues
  • Rewritten submission wizard — a cleaner, faster five-step upload process for authors
  • Reviewer suggestions — authors can now suggest preferred reviewers during submission
  • MariaDB 11 support — official support for the latest MariaDB LTS release
